Good morning, and Happy Healthy Wednesday!
Here in the Valley of the Sun it’s a lovely morning – our high today is supposed to be 84 F. So after work I’ll be hiking somewhere. But unfortunately…..I’ve spent the last week and a half slacking off. And that’s not good for managing my Prediabetes!
My son had his wisdom teeth taken out last Thursday, and while at the dentist’s office, I came across the Prevention magazine’s 28 Day Challenge (for more info, go here http://www.prevention.com/28daychallenge ). I decided to do it – I’m DEFINITELY a person who has trouble sticking to an exercise program on her own! This time of the year is especially hard, because I have 13 days left of teaching for the school year – which means I still have lessons to prepare, papers to grade, a class full of sixth graders who are done for the year to keep under control AS WELL AS packing up the classroom, making sure all papers and paperclips are out of the walls, and getting everything ready on the check out list, as well as the end of the year reports for both students and curriculum specialist. I don’t want to sit around at home after I get off work for the next 13 days so……I’m hoping the 28 Day Challenge will help with that! 🙂
Step 1: set your intention. I intend to lost 5 lbs within the next 28 days and work on toning my triceps.
Step 2: exercise 150 minutes a week. I will spend one hour each day five days a week exercising. Part of the time will be spent hiking, and the other days will be 1/2 hour on the elliptical machine and 1/2 hour strength training.
Step 3: eat healthy. This is a no brainer, and I’ve already made significant changes to my diet to help reduce my sugar intake and up my dietary fiber and monounsaturated fat intake.
So, dear reader…..care to come along for the ride with me? The 28 Day Challenge is free (my favorite word! 🙂 ), and we could help cheer each other on!
