B Day!

B Day!

Today’s trip is Blevins Trail.  It’s marked as an easy trail, and that’s exactly what it is!  Blevins Trail is located in Usery Mountain Regional Park, and both names have an interesting tidbit of history to them.  The most famous name associated with the area is that of King Usery. In 1891 he and Bill Blevins held up a stagecoach near Globe, a crime that earned them 2 silver bullion bars and 7 years in Yuma prison. So the park and nearby mountain are named after Usery, and one of the trails is named after Blevins.  Now, if only I could find one of those silver bars!  🙂

What’s a blog about the Sonoran Desert without a picture of itsmost famous resident?  Behold, the saguaro Cactus!  What I’vebeen told is that each arm on a saguaro cactus represents 1oo years of growth.  If that’s true, this cactus is over 500 years old!

Hi Julia. I’m visiting from AtoZ and enjoying your posts, even if not a hiker or in America myself. The area you are exploring looks a lot like parts of Australia, though, including sleepy places for snakes.

I love nature trails. My family and I make it a point to go on at least one hiking trip each summer? Where ( what country) is Usery Mountain Nat. Park?
I live near Fundy National Park in New Brunswick, Canada.
Oops, Now I see the comments forget my stupid question. Hi to Australia. Love your post.

Good morning Patricia! The United States has some beautiful parks, and Usery Mountain Regional Park is just one of them. I’ve seen pictures of Fundy, and it looks so lovely – I would love to go hiking there! 🙂

What a lovely park. My family and I make a point to go hiking (walking) at least once a year. I will google this and learn more about it. I am near Fundy Nat.Park in New Brunswick, Canada. Love this theme.

Thank you for stopping by! If you’re ever in the Valley of the Sun let me know – we actually have both county and state parks in the surrounding area that people can go hiking in!
