Uncluttered Weekends

NOT what my living room looks like!

This is a new category I’m starting – “Uncluttered Weekends”.  You’ll get the chance to see my before (PLEASE don’t call that show ‘Hoarders’ on me!) and after pictures of various areas in my house as I work my way from being disorganized and a clutter bug to becoming “Ms. Yes I know where everything is”!

What brought this desire to change, you may ask?  Well, first I’ve been watching the show “Hoarders” on Netflix over the last couple of weekends.  At first, it was a way of telling myself that although I am messy, I’m not THAT bad!  However, as I watched more episodes I began to think about my life, and what I grew up with.  Then I ran across one episode that really hit home for me – if you have Netflix, check out Season Two, the episode #14.  I could totally relate to Kim.  I don’t invite a man I’m in a relationship with over because I’m embarrassed with my bedroom, bathroom & closet. The rest of the house I’m fine with.  It’s just my personal area that has become a dumping ground for stuff that I don’t know what to do with!

Second, I’ve read books on organizing over the years, but never really took the strategies to heart – I’m a visual person, and it took seeing other people’s clutter to wake me up!

Third, I want to move forward with my life.  Everything I’m read (and watched lately) has made me aware of just how limiting and blocking being surrounded by clutter can make a person.  I don’t want to be the person I was – now is the time to clean up my act (literally!) and move forward.

I’m looking forward to this, and I hope you are too!
