Welcome to the alongtheway1@wordpress.com blog! My name is Julia, and this is the first time I’ve ever blogged. Needless to say, I’m excited, nervous, and just plain wondering how this is all going to turn out!
As the name of my blog says, I hope to share (with whoever wants to read this) things I’ve learned about myself and others as I travel this path I’m on for the year. As such, you may discover things you never knew about me, and – if you should choose to comment on something I’ve written – I will get to discover new things about you as well.
So…..let’s begin this blogging journey. I’m 39 years old, a single mother of an almost 17 year old son. Currently I am a teacher, but am in the process of switching careers. As a teacher, I know that to help my students learn new concepts, I need to “activate my students’’ prior knowledge”. My career switch involves switching from education to clinical research coordinating – and so far there is NOTHING I can use in my own prior knowledge to help learn the new concepts! Everything is completely new, and while I enjoy the challenge of learning new things, I’m nervous about my upcoming application to be accepted into the formal program. You see, being a clinical research coordinator is my ‘plan b’ (becoming a published writer is plan a). I don’t have a plan c. I’m choosing to emulate Scarlet O’Hara from the movie Gone with the Wind, and think about having to come up with a possible plan c tomorrow!
As we continue “along the way”, I’ll post pictures of my dollhouses in various stages of progress – I’m a miniature enthusiast – as well as pictures of my belly dance outfits – both American Tribal Style and Cabaret Style. You’ll also see pictures of my doodles, and things that make you smile.
I hope you’ll sit down, log in, and join me this year. If you see or read something that creates an urge in you to comment, then please do so! Let’s have fun.
